Swedish DJ Avicii Dead at 28

Swedish musician and DJ Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, has unexpectedly passed away at the age of 28.

The Grammy-nominated DJ is known for songs “Hey Brother” and “Wake Me Up” featuring artist Aloe Blacc.

Though details have not been addressed, Avicii has struggled with addiction in the past. His rep says he died in the Middle Eastern country of Oman.

His reps shared the news of his passing this morning, saying, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated, and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

In 2016, Avicii retired from live performances but was known as one of the highest-paid DJs in the world according to Forbes, earning $28 million in 2014.

Fans and fellow artists have taken Twitter by storm, expressing sorry over his death.
