Ajeva Takes Their Funk on the Road
It’s often a challenge trying to describe the groups on the jam band circuit, such as it is. Fortunately, many bands have done great jobs at self-description. such is the case with St. Petersburg’s Ajeva, who claim they play “Interdimensional Gospel Funk.”
No argument here.
These boys are in their sixth year bringing the funk along with plenty of rock, jazz, reggae, and hip hop to stages throughout the Southeast. After a few personnel changes, Ajeva have settled on a solid quintet that delivers every time they play. Ajeva are: Reed Skahill, lead vocals, guitar; Skyler Golden, lead guitar; Mark Mayea, keyboard, guitar, vocals; Taylor Gilchrist, bass; and Travis ‘Too Tall’ Young, drums, raps.
Their fall tour finds the band in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia in addition to their Florida home base. They’ll also play Suwannee Hulaween again and appear at Dunedin Brewery Oktobeerfest and Zen Awakening.
