Prefuse 73, Deku Headline Shows in Tampa and Atlanta

Bungalow Entertainment has curated an eclectic evening sure to intrigue hip hop, rap, and DJ/producer fans. The Prefuse 73 tour stops at Crowbar in Ybor City, Tampa, on Thursday, September 20th. Prefuse 73 and Deku also play 529 in Atlanta on Friday, with Day Tripper and Chris Devoe also on the bill.

Prefuse 73 claims his hometowns as Santiago, Cuba; Catalunya, Spain, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, and New York City NY. His bio? “I was born. I was raised. I chose art. I chose music. I chose you.”

Thus we have Prefuse 73, also known as Guillermo Scott Herren. He has released lots of music, sometimes as Prefuse 73, other times as Delarosa & Asora, Ahmad Szabo, or Piano Overlord. He has also been a member of Savath y Savalas, Sons of the Morning, Fudge, Risil, and Diamond Watch Wrists.

Already that’s quite a resume. Nine albums and eight EPs under Prefuse 73 and another 13 + 8 under various guises. His career has spanned more than 21 years in a business doesn’t necessarily welcome longevity, but his innovative style has kept him in the forefront of the underground scene whose style covers a wide swath of hip hop production and beat-making.

Jon Ditty is a rapper/songwriter extraordinaire from Dunedin FL, a brilliant wordsmith who spits rhymes with amazing flow and dense lyricism. His zany stage show involves a combination of emcee skill, theatrics, and controllerism. And you must pay close attention to his stunning vocabulary twists and turns.

Faye Andrews, better known as ‘Deku,’ is an Atlanta producer who is a waking astronomer; she defines herself as a music witch. She makes loop-based experimental electronic music. Her innovative style is constantly evolving, constantly searching for new sounds, instruments, and techniques.

Andrew M. Blass, a.k.a ‘Blassafrass,’ is a Tampa native “bass maker,” vinyl turntableist, selector, and post-processor producer [collector + practice (dedication * sacrifice) = selector]. Blass is one half of the local vinyl duo the Savage Scratch Kids and is an outspoken proponent of open minds, free love, and the low-end.
