Marco Benevento Takes His Piano Rock to the Southeast

Marco Benevento takes his band back on the road, beginning this Wednesday, January 23rd, at Soul Kitchen in Mobile. This set of six shows, with dates in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, will have Daniel Shearin (River Whyless) opening.

He then pairs up with Mike Dillon & the Malletmen for five shows, four of them in Florida. His concert at Levon Helm Studios is sold out, but you can also catch him at Hogs for the Cause in New Orleans March 29th.

(Jump to 45:00 for the start of Benevento’s set.)

Benevento plays “piano rock,” but you can throw out any preconceived notions of what piano rock might actually mean.  You can say the same thing about his “rock piano,” a most fascinating hybrid. His shows cover an incredibly vast swath of styles and genres, always with a bit of humor and a lot of fun. Benevento is joined on stage by Karina Rykman (bass) and Andy Borger (drums).

Benevento is a Royal Potato Family member and has a dozen albums available on the label, the most recent of which is Woodstock Sessions, released in 2017; Saturn (Live at Saturn 02.09.18); and last year’s Invisible Baby.
