Antibalas Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Big Tour
Brooklyn’s Antibalas is celebrating 20 years in the business with a big tour which started over the weekend in Toronto and Ottawa. Tonight (Tuesday, February 19th) and Wednesday they are in Los Angeles at Zebulon Café Concert for the beginning of a ten-date West Coast run. And they’ll be joined by Cochemea, a label mate of Antibalas on Daptone Records.
After the West Coast run, they jet to the East Coast for four concerts, two at Brooklyn Bowl. Next up: New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, before heading to Europe for 15 dates stretching from Belgium and Switzerland to London and Dublin, including eight in France. Among those are 36th Festival Banlieues Bleues and Cully Jazz Festival.
Where the Gods Are In Peace is the band’s seventh album, released in 2017.
Antibalas is a premier exponent of Afrobeat, funk, jazz, and experimental music.
