Why You Should Be Excited About Shaky Knees

Shaky Knees is an annual music festival that takes place in Atlanta. This year the fest will be held from May 3rd – May 5th and boasts one of the greatest lineups to be released in recent memory. The alternative rock gods smiled upon us when it was created, and the public rejoiced when they saw it. Undoubtedly stacked from top to bottom, the three-day festival is headlined by Tame Impala, Cage The Elephant, Incubus, and Beck.

The undercard is spectacular in every way, from Gary Clark Jr. and Grouplove to The Ruen Brothers and Slothrust; every minute that the gates of Shaky Knees are open will be filled with amazing music from some of the most talented and beloved artists playing today. If you find the time and the willpower to pull yourself away from the stage, you will have a ton of other things to check out and do.

Giveaways, Merch, and Art at Shaky Knees

Shaky Knees partnered with some huge companies to help bring exciting activities to festival attendees. While some people oppose sponsorship and may complain about seeing the Ford logo scattered around, it’s a good thing. Sponsorship booths often hand out festival essentials. Towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, and spray bottles are among my personal favorites.

There will be free mobile charging for when your phone battery goes low. There are awesome lounges to escape the sun and have a drink. Head over to one of the Airstream trailers to grab a drink or wander over to Third Man Records and grab some vinyl and enter a giveaway. There will be corn hole, giant Jenga, and other games hosted in some sponsor areas. You’ll find something for everyone, no matter what your interests are.

If sponsorship booths and giveaways are not what you’re into, then go grab some awesome local food at one of the dozens of food trucks and stands. The food trucks at Shaky Knees have something for even the pickiest eaters. There’s Southern BBQ, vegetarian-friendly corn dogs, boodle bowls, arepas, lemonade, and so much more. Some of Atlanta’s favorite local eateries are featured at Shaky Knees, or you can try new fare from restaurants located all over the Southeast.

Not hungry? No problem. Just wander the 17 acres of Central Park and check out the awesome art. Or you can toss a sheet down and take a load off, grab a photo with some friends at one of the free photobooths, check out some merch, or visit one of the many vendor booths.
