BeachLife Festival on Redondo Beach: About Darn Time!

So some people had this idea to honor their hometown of Los Angeles and the glorious Pacific coastline by creating a festival that would truly celebrate life the California way. They said:

We were lucky enough to grow up in Southern California on the beach, surfing, hanging out with sand between our toes, vibing with friends and living the beach life. So we thought it only fitting to create a huge beach party celebrating our way of life with all our friends in Los Angeles. Join us for the first coastal festival ever to be held in Los Angeles on the Pacific Ocean — BeachLife Festival. Grab your friends and head to Redondo Beach from May 3rd through May 5th. We’ll be watching the sunset and our favorite bands play LIVE on the beach.  Come honor the Southern California BeachLife with live music, great food, great drinks, great surfing, and everything beach.

You know, that’s not a bad idea at all. Artists, celebrity chefs, surfing, and skating are central to BeachLife. This is the first major multi-stage three-day music and arts festival on the California beachside, and this one is definitely major when we start discussing the music. Festival founder Allen Sanford signed a ten-year lease with the city of Redondo Beach, planning to expand and create in partnership with Rob Lissner, founder of Live List, a service which streams live multiple music festivals throughout the country.

There will be live streaming of all acts everyday! Unlike many music festivals packed with legendary talent that have restrictions on sets broadcast live, all acts performing have agreed to their performances to be streaming live.

FRIDAY, MAY 3

You want to talk about heavy-hitters? BeachLife comes to real life with Bob Weir & Wolf Brothers, Slightly Stoopid playing an acoustic roots set, Chris Robinson’s As the Crow Flies, Steel Pulse, and Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers. And the hits just keep on coming with Donavon Frankenreiter, Roots of Creation, Anuhea, Sack Lunch featuring Rob Machado, Timmy Curran, The Higgs, Clayton Joseph Scott, and Alinea.

Multiple genres for your enjoyment, and that’s just day one!

SATURDAY, MAY 4

You want beach boys, you got ’em! You cannot get more BeachLife/Southern California than Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and Blondie Chaplin. Jason Mraz, Violent Femmes, Dawes, and Everclear will also fill up the beach with music. So will Chevy Metal, Sugar Ray, Beast Coast, Berlin, Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, His Eyes Have Fangs, V Torres, Barley, and Latchkey Kid.

SUNDAY, MAY 5

Brace yourself. You’ve got one huge day left, headlined by Willie Nelson & Family. Ziggy Marley, Grace Potter, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, and Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel will also splash across the stages. Colin Hay (Men at Work), Poncho Sanchez, Venice, Matta Costa, Lost Beach, Chris Pierce, The Hollow Legs, and Charlie Overbey round out this incredible lineup.

Sounds awful, huh? Hangin’ on the beach, swimming, skating, surfing, looking at art, looking at beautiful people, eating, drinking, and listening to some of the best music in the world.

Yeah, who’d want to do that?

Then again, it might sell out. Just sayin’…
