Why You Should Never Miss a SuperJam at Bonnaroo

It’s that time of the year again: Bonnaroo, possibly the greatest music festival in the world, is just a week away. 80,000+ people are about to head to Manchester TN to have one of the best weekends of their lives. Late-night dance parties, indescribable vibes, overwhelming community love, glorious high-fives, and over 100 of the world’s greatest musicians await in this festival-goer’s paradise. There is constantly so much happening throughout Bonnaroo, and I am a firm believer that when you get to The Farm you just need to go with the flow.

Schedules are great and everything, but the true freedom at Bonnaroo comes from wandering aimlessly, making new friends, and experiencing this place for what it truly is. I suggest having two or three must-see acts a day; beyond that, don’t let your schedule dictate your day. One conflict I consistently see on social media is “Should I go to ___________ or the SuperJam?” Year after year this comes up, and the correct answer is always: The SuperJam. The other bands and artists playing that night will play other sets at other times in other places; the SuperJam only happens once.

What is the SuperJam?

Every year Bonnaroo puts together a once-in-a-lifetime assortment of world-class musicians to perform a late-night set that typically has a certain theme. There is always one person who is kind of in charge of the SuperJam, someone who helps dictate the vibes, sound, and energy that will prevade from that stage. This year that person is GRiZ, and the theme is G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). This will be a late-night funktastic dance party filled with sing-alongs and a ton of special guests. You never know who is going to make an appearance at a SuperJam; there is no way to tell who a surprise guest will be; that’s why it’s called a surprise guest…….but we have heard that Rainbow Kitten Surprise will be making an appearance.

I’ve made the mistake in the past of skipping a SuperJam at Bonnaroo to get a good spot for another artist, only to have my friends talk about that performance for the past five years. Since then I have yet to miss a SuperJam, and I have yet to be disappointed. Learn from my mistakes, and make your way over to This Stage on Friday, June 14th, and get ready to have the time of your life.
