Joe Marcinek, Melody Trucks at Blue Jay Listening Room for NYE

Joe Marcinek has no idea how to slow down (I am familiar with this problem). He is about to polish off a huge 2023 calendar with a show at Blue Jay Listening Room in Jacksonville Beach to ring in the New Year with compatriot Melody Trucks, the acclaimed vocalist and percussionist. They will be joined Sunday night by Reilly Comisar, Shaun Taunton, Andrew Fitzkee, and guests.

The Joe Marcinek Band is an experience you will never forget, because each show features a different lineup of musicians creating a different set of music every night. The music is equal parts Chicago blues, New Orleans funk, Grateful Dead psychedelia, and jazz fusion! Joe tours nationally from New York to L.A. and everywhere in between. Most of the lineups are one-time-only events, making every night a can’t-miss show.

Trucks has had a great year as well, leading her own band, playing with brother Vaylor in Brother and Sister, performing at some of the Allman Family Reunion tour shows, and teaming up with The Lee Boys for some righteous shows. She is also involved annually with Roots Rock Revival. She and Vaylor are children of the late Butch Trucks, founder and drummer for The Allman Brothers Band.

Blue Jay Listening Room is home to some amazing music, topped by the Blue Jay Concert Series co-hosted by Melody and Vaylor. Guests who have performed in their series include Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi All Stars, The Black Crowes); Jimmy Hall, longtime vocalist/harpist of Southern Rock legends Wet Willie; and the ‘Piana From Savannah,’ Victor Wainwright.

Next up for Marcinek and friends is the four-night Dunedin Brewery takeover January 4-7! Thursday features Brain Emoji with Marcinek, Michael Lyn Bryant, Vinnie Svoboda, and . Friday the Marcinek band includes Freekbass, Jason Hann (The String Cheese Incident), Michael Garrie, and Austin Llewellyn. Hann will also present his League of Sound Disciples. Saturday the Marcinek band adds vocalist Songbird Shella, and there will also be Freekbass solo grooves! Sunday event TBA.

Marcinek heads to California for three nights, joined by Manny and Ronnie Sanchez of GrooveSession and by vocalist Reilly Comisar. They will hit Nevada City, San Francisco, and Cotati. There is also a Key West date in February, with more sure to come.

There is a huge event March 30 at Crazy Uncle Mike’s in Boca Raton: Coach’s All-Star Jam, a benefit to crush kidney cancer. There will be a headliner announced, and the other band features Marcinek, Dave Watts (The Motet), Timothy Ola, Digo Rodriguez (Electric Kif), three members of The Heavy Pets: Jeff Lloyd, Mike Garulli, and Jim Wuest; Jessica Jones, Chris Sgammato, Juanjamon, Rob Smiley, and more!

He reconvenes Dead Funk Summit at Skull and Roses with compatriots Melvin Seals (Melvin Seals and JGB), Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk), Stanton Moore (Galactic), and Jason Hann. The Marcinek Band with Hann are also slated for the inaugural Jamboozled Music & Arts Festival in September.

Melody Trucks has a seven-show run in January along with Jackson Stokes, beginning in Charleston and Savannah and then five shows in Florida.
