Bruce Katz Band on the Road Celebrating ‘Connections’

Here is a gross understatement: “I play blues, soul-jazz, and American roots music on Hammond B3 organ and piano.” That’s the self-description that appears on Bruce Katz’s Facebook page, but he does a lot more than just play them. He is a master on both instruments! Katz has performed with The Gregg Allman Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Butch Trucks & the Freight Train Band, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters, John Hammond, Delbert McClinton, and many others. He has 11 albums under his name and has performed on six dozen others. He is first and foremost an educator.

Last year, his latest album, the outstanding Connections, was released with bandmates Liviu Pop, drums, and Aaron Lieberman, guitar, vocals. The trio begin their 2024 campaign at Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues in Portsmouth NH on the last day of January. After a show at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem, they head to sunny Florida to thaw out for nine great shows all around the state.

Katz also performs in outstanding Traffic tribute band Paper Suns; they have two shows this weekend New York!
