Dunedin Brewery Spring Beer Jam March 26–29: A String of Pearls
So what present do you get for a 30th anniversary? I had to look it up (it’s not one of the “biggies”). Pearl, apparently, or perhaps pearls plural.
That’s all well and good, but I doubt Dunedin Brewery is interested in actual pearls as the proprietors, staff, and loyal customers get ready to celebrate those 30 years (and the oldest independent brewery in Florida).
Mike Bryant, pub proprietor, put his head together with Jimmy Rector, a prolific promoter with deep connections like Bryant, proposing a string of dazzling pearls to shine throughout the four-day spring party March 26–29. You know that, on the entire outside wall of the pub facing the Moon Tower, there is a magnificent rendering of Col. Bruce Hampton Ret.. What if Rector and his Anthill Cinema bandmates put together a tribute to the Col.?

What if they invited Rev. Jeff Mosier, banjo master and founder of Blueground Undergrass, an early member of Hampton’s Aquarium Rescue Unit? Those pearls are looking mighty shiny. And what if they invited the shiniest pearl of all, Oteil Burbridge, original member of ARU and well known for his tenures in The Allman Brothers Band and in Dead and Co.?
What a lineup! Anymore pearls?
Brewery favorites Mike Dillon and Punkadelick return for incredible magic with Nikki Glaspie and Brian Haas. Regular visitors The Heavy Pets are still enjoying their 20th anniversary on the scene and will be there. Another frequent flyer, Joe Marcinek, will play with his trio.

Brain Emoji, the improvisational quartet featuring Marcinek, Bryant, Vinny Svoboda (Anthill Cinema), and Jamie Newitt (The Heavy Pets), will match up with Mike Dillon for an incredible collab. More? Sure! Funkin’ Grateful, the amazing Dead tribute band, will pile on the festivities, with Heavy Pets Jamie Newitt and Jim Wuest plus Joe Falconeri, Jesse Ricca, Rob Smiley, and Al Zilinsky.

Add to all that Yacht Lava, Pipe Dreamer, Movie Props, The Organ Trail, DJ 45Revolver, and Jon Ditty’s Shuffle (DJ set).
Artists at large are Vibraphone Destroyer Mike Dillon, the ubiquitous Joe Marcinek, and Rob Smiley, the outstanding saxophone player from Miami.
