For your listening and concert experience pleasure: BALTHVS
There has been a lot of discussion about bands such as Khruangbin, Glass Beads, Arc de Soleil, and new entry Angine de Poitrine. We would suggest you add Colombian trio BALTHVS to the list.
BALTHVS
BALTHVS formed in 2020, and since they they have played a collection of major festivals and shows across the globe on four continents and more than 26 countries. They are Colombia’s leading alternative act. The group’s website suggests they play “a distinctive blend of psychedelic funk, global grooves, Middle Eastern melodies, spiritual jazz improvisations, and Latin-tinged rhythms.”

Having seen them perform at Suwannee Hulaween 2025 and two shows on this year’s Jam Cruise, we CAN CONFIRM. About Jam Cruise, we noted:
My first thought, especially with this badass bass player (Sarah, filling in, first show), is that they remind of a funky, steroid-infused Khruangbin. This was just a full-on dance party, and the crowd crowding the tiny Brews at Sea stage on deck were dancing right along. Twisting their setlist up, they opened with a solid “Help on the Way > Slipknot” and tumbled in to more great originals (“Ashes”) and jaw-dropping covers (“Disco Inferno”). During “Turkish Coffee” Balthazar walked through the crowd and up over the raised part on the pool deck while Sarah (??) also stepped off stage.

I was absolutely positive I would be there for the second set from BALTHVS, the Colombian trio with New York resident Sarah playing her second show with the band and crushing it! They played their tune “Ashes,” then a medley of a Dead tune and “Blue Sky.” They dove into a deep psychedelic jam that emerged as the disco-fied “Shakedown Street,” so good! There were ballads, thumpers, and fine Latin-tinged tunes, including Gabor Szabo’s “Gypsy Queen,” the one you know as the second half of Santana’s “Black Magic Woman” jam. What a great Jam Cruise debut they had.
The trio’s tour begins with a set at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro and then festival appearances at All Good Now, Sawtooth Valley Gathering, Zootown Music Festival, and High Sierra Music Festival before festival sets in Quebec (Festival d’été de Quebec), and Switzerland (Kultur Festival), and Greece (Release Athens Festival) plus a special show in Toronto.
