Sunshine Music Festival Coming Soon to St. Pete and Boca Raton
The fourth annual Sunshine Music Festival returns to St. Petersburg and Boca Raton in less than three weeks. The traveling show will be at Vinoy Park in St. Pete on Saturday, January 16th, and Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca on the 17th (remember: NEVER miss a Sunday show).
Many of the performers you may know; some you might not. With that in mind, here is some video evidence in case you don’t have your tickets yet!
The Tedeschi Trucks is headlining this event for the fourth time. They are one of the premier big bands touring today. Here is a sample of what they brought to the stage at last year’s fest (thanks, Ron Potoczny!):
The Indigo Girls are often regarded as an acoustic duo, but they can certainly rock out, as they did at Lilith Fair and at this year’s XPoNential Festival.
Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue have been good to the Sunshine State, playing at numerous festivals and shows. It’s great to have them on this lineup.
Trombone Shorty isn’t the only New Orleans import. The Revivalists have also been to Florida often, spreading the funk far and wide.
On the other hand, one gentlemen who has not visited enough is Karl Denson and His Tiny Universe. He is one of the hardest-working men in all of show business. Did we mention DJ Williams on guitar?
The Hard Working Americans come by their name honestly, with Todd Snider, Dave Schools, Neal Casal, Chad Staehly, Duane Trucks, and Jesse Aycock delivering great American music in a variety of genres. Here is a quick look:
Jorma Kaukonen is a regular on the Florida scene, sometimes solo, sometimes with Hot Tuna. Either way, this man delivers.
You may not know Jerry Douglas by name, but be assured you have heard him. “Man of Constant Sorrow?” Yep, that’s Douglas on mandolin. He is a massive talent and plays with Alison Krause and Union Station among other collaborations. He and his band will certainly delight.
Bobby Lee Rodgers has been a mainstay at the Sunshine Festival, Peach Festival, Wanee and many other events, and with good reason. He is an excellent songwriter, a brilliant and vastly underrated guitar player, and a band leader who finds the very best musicians to deliver his vision. It will be worth it to arrive early to see him.
And finally, blues rocker Joanne Taylor Shaw comes from over the pond to share her guitar pyrotechnics. This will be a treat!
