The Best Things At Voodoo Fest

Voodoo Fest is coming up quick. In less than 30 days, some of the biggest names in music, Mumford and Sons, Arctic Monkeys and Odeza just to name a few, will make their way to the Big Easy for three days of spectacularness. October 26th-October 28th, Halloween weekend, soul food, haunted houses, and New Orleans. If that alone doesn’t tickle your fancy just take a look at the lineup!

First off, Childish Gambino will still be performing at Voodoo Fest. He had to cancel a handful of tour dates due to an injury, even his Austin City Limits sets, but not Voodoo. Rumors are saying that this might be his last tour ever, if not for a long time. If you have never seen him before get ready for something special. Donald Glover has a stage presence like no one I have ever seen before. He commands attention without saying a word. His crowds are always packed full of energy and ready to party. I last saw him in 2015 at Bonnaroo; since then he has absolutely blown up and become a huge draw for festivals. DO NOT miss his set.

Marilyn Manson, are you kidding me? The king of shock, who drove ’90s moms to the brink of insanity, will be playing this legendary festival over Halloween weekend. This is probably the most excited I’ve been for a show in a long time. He doesn’t hold back in anyway when he performs. It’s a spectacle to behold and I can not wait.

Yes, you should be excited about it. Yes, it’s going to be amazing. There’s a reason it’s called Voodoo Music + Arts Experience; it’s not just about the lineup; it’s about everything else that happens at the fest and surrounding areas.

Food & Art Galore

There’s plenty to do before, after and in between sets at Voodoo Fest. The fest is held at City Park, and Voodoo has taken full advantage of the space. There are a ton of interactive and immersive massive art installations scattered across the grounds. Make sure you check out Brew Dat Beer Hall, where craft beer and local vibes come alive. There’s the Market Place, which is a custom shopping experience. There’s a huge ferris wheel and even free giveaways, raffles and more brought to you by Voodoo’s sponsors.

New Orleans is a city known for its amazing food. Voodoo does not hold back when it comes to giving you a full culinary experience while at the festival. There’s the Forked Up Food Court and the exclusive Feast Under The Stars, which is held the night before Voodoo. Some of the top chefs in town will be there cooking up tasty things for everyone to enjoy. Shrimp po’boys and fried duck quesadillas are just some of the deliciousness that will be at Voodoo Fest this year.

Outside Festival Grounds

New Orleans always has something going on, especially during Halloween. The city is full of color and life but has quite a creepy history. There are plenty of creepy places to explore around the city once the festival closes for the night. The Mortuary, Bernie Baxter’s Traveling Freak Show, and New Orlean’s Nightmare are just a few cool places to check out to get your daily dose of spookiness. If you’re looking for a real haunted venture, check out St. Louis Cemetery, Charity Hospital, and/or Lalaurie Mansion.

24/7 Music

When the festival closes for the night, it doesn’t mean you have to stop dancing. There is always music happening in New Orleans. Make your way to one of the hundreds of venues within walking distance of City Park and keep the party going. Frenchman Street is the place to be after Voodoo; hope to see you there!
