Duran Duran Set to Blast Off From Kennedy Space Center

Legendary ’80s British pop super-group Duran Duran will headline a concert at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The Apollo 11 rocket took off from Kennedy Space Center aboard a Saturn V rocket on July 16, 1969, with Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin aboard the lunar module Eagle, the moon landing taking place just four days later on July 20, with the astronauts becoming the first two people to set foot on the moon. They and command module pilot Michael Collins are all Astronaut Hall of Fame inductees. This is remarkable feat even today, considering the moon is 238,000 miles from earth. All three astronauts returned safely to earth aboard the Apollo 11 capsule on July 24 after more than eight days in space.
