Tool Release ‘Fear Inoculum,’ the Band’s First Song in 13 Years

Three-time Grammy Award-winning alternative-progressive rockers Tool have just released their first new music in 13 years in anticipation of the release of their forthcoming fifth studio album.

Their last album, 10,000 Days, was released in May 2006. Fans of the legendary rock band have waited patiently for new music, as the band had a limited touring schedule that has included mega-rock festivals worldwide. With 10,000 Days being arguably the band’s most successful album, the time has finally come for new music. The culmination of the unique sounds along with limited but steady touring has kept fans of the band engaged and anticipating the new album that has been in the works for years.

After years of personal circumstances that led to the their delay in getting into the studio to produce their new album, the band was finally able to begin recording and able to follow their creative workflow where instrumentals are produced first, followed by lyrics written by Tool’s frontman Maynard James Keenan. To the band’s credit, Tool have maintained a consistent lineup of Danny Carey (drums), Adam Jones (guitar), Maynard James Keenan (vocals), and Justin Chancellor (bass). Clearly, fans have been waiting and continuing to support the band since it first formed in 1990. With fan speculation across social media when the album would finally drop, that day arrived on Wednesday as the first single from the album was released. The 10 minute, 22 second “Fear Inoculum” is the title track for the band’s fifth studio album. The guitar-intense and heavy drumbeat song has already garnered over three million views in less than 24 hours on Youtube alone.

The band also announced long-time rock and roll record producer and engineer Joe Barresi was brought in to mix Fear Inoculum. As you may recall, he was the engineer on the band’s previous album 10,000 Days.

Fans are awaiting the album’s final tracklist that will include a total of seven songs. Fear Inoculum is scheduled to be released worldwide on August 30.
