Widespread Panic return to Brew City for 3 sold-out shows
Widespread Panic and its army of loyal Spreadheads were back at The Riverside Theater, one of the best indoor venues that the band plays, according to all lucky enough to get inside. Milwaukee always rolls out the red carpet for the Widespread Panic entourage with block parties before each show and late-night bands afterwards, October 23–25. The World Series also started Friday night a few blocks away.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23
WSP opened Friday night’s show with “Rebirtha,” a nod to the Brewers and their fans. And let’s play! Next up, “Send Your Mind” and an O.G set with Little Kin > One Armed Steve” and nice “Traveling Light > Diner” into a smoking “Spoonful” and “Action Man” to end set one.
Set two was a sweet blend of old and new, opening with “Impossible > Trashy,” and highlights included a nice “Blue Carousel” with JoJo Hermann and Nick Johnson going deep into an extended jam. Fine set closer: “For What It’s Worth > Love Tractor.”
Encore: “Keep Me In Your Heart” into heavy Schools zone “Bowlegged Woman”

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24
Day 2:Â Saturday college football, World Series, killer eats to be had everywhere, and time for our favorite band from Athens to hit the stage once again.

They began with one of my favorites, “Let’s Get the Show on the Road > A of D.” Highlights were “Good People > Dark Bar > Can’t Get High” and a fun-filled dance party set-ender “Conrad the Caterpillar.”

Set 2: John Bell got us started with “Let’s Get Down to Business” into a funky “Pigeons > Aunt Avis > Blight > Airplane > 13minute Greta,” and the magic was flowing at Riverside Theatre. “Mr. Soul” would close this high-energy second set.

Encore: “We Walk Each Other Home > Dear Mr. Fantasy.” And that, my friends, is Fire!

Set one wicked off with “The Take Out” and a solid old-school set that included “Better Off” and “Give > Hatfield.” JB and “None Of Us Are Free” had the crowd at frenzy stage throughout, including “Papa’s Home > Porch Song.”

Set 2: “North > Henry Parsons Died” into a smoking hot “Good Morning Little School Girl” into a massive “Driving Song > Pilgrims > Driving Song > Jamais Vu > B of D > Chilly Water.” set ender.

Encore 1: “Nobody’s Loss > Climb To Safety”
Encore 2: “I’m So Glad”
