Get Yourself Ready for Three Magical Days at The BIG What?

We’re less than a month away from The BIG What? BIG Something has teased us about two special late-night sets from bands TBA and told us about the themes for each day, and now the daily schedule is available for your perusal. This is the first time the festival will be held at Shakori Hills Community Arts Center in Pittsboro NC, and it promises to be a blast.

THURSDAY

Of course, BIG Something performs each day. Thursday’s theme is “UFOs are Real.” You’ll find funk with The Fritz, electronic funk from SunSquabi, Americana and bluegrass from Urban Soil and Town Mountain, a reunion set from Big Daddy Love, and pure madness from Opposite Box.

FRIDAY

“Blue Dream” is the theme of the day, but you’ll find all the colors when Turkuaz hits the stage. It’s a dance party for certain with Spiritual Rez and lots more where that came from courtesy of Funk You. Litz puts the psych in psychedelic, and Empire Strikes Brass needs no introduction. Your day’s madness comes by way of Dr. Bacon, and the day is loaded with Emma’s Lounge, Wright Avenue, Ben Coolen, Barefoot Wade and another secret set!

SATURDAY

By the time Saturday is finished with you, you’ll know why the theme is “The Glow.” In addition to BIG Something’s “regular” performance, they’ll also play an improv set directed by Matt Butler, the man with tux appeal. Butler will also attempt to herd cats with Everyone Orchestra. Zach Deputy brings you his dance party featuring… Zach Deputy! Consider the Source will deliver two badass sets of fusion, and Aqueous brings the jam with Buffalo sauce. Come Back Alice will demonstrate why they’re about to go nationwide, and there is so much more, including Big Mean Sound Machine, Rebekah Todd and The Odyssey, Jive Mother Mary, and Of Tomorrow.

In the next few weeks we will highlight some of the bands you might not yet know or know well. Once again, The BIG What? is overflowing with musical riches. We cannot wait to see you there!
