Deep, Full, and Reverberating: Perfect Description for Resonance Music and Arts Festival

Papadosio and Essential Productions must have been brainstorming: What can we do to top last year’s great Resonance Music and Arts Festival?

Plan A: have an even more amazing lineup.
Plan B: make it a four-day fest rather than three
Plan C: ALL OF THE ABOVE

Resonance, which kicks off this Thursday at Legend Valley in Thornville OH, is an absolute monster this year. September 20-23 will be so jam-packed you’ll practically burst with joy. The Legend Valley Stage in the main stage, with sets alternating with AA Sound Stage. And there is much, much more inside the Octave Tent and in the Essential Productions Tent, both featuring Hennessey Sound.

You’ll find mind-bending sets on each stage every day, including some delicious late-night fun. Let’s break it down by day.

THURSDAY

Friday is, relatively speaking, a “light” day. Your hosts Papadosio and Beats Antique headline the main stage, with The Floozies, Sunsquabi, BIG Something and The Jauntee on the AA Stage. Melvin Seals & JGB are in the Octave Tent, and The Floozies and BIG Something come back for a double dose late night.

FRIDAY

Suddenly the schedule goes bananas, with music starting at noon and ending, eventually, at a sunrise set by Random Rab. If all you got was the main stage lineup — Tipper, The Disco Biscuits, EOTO (two sets), and Moon Hooch — that would be simply awesome. But there are 23 more sets! You cannot see and hear everything, but many are playing more than one set and more than one day, so you’ll need to map out your travels.

Keller Williams (solo and Pettygrass), TAUK, Broccoli Samurai, Sunsquabi, Litz, and Pink Talking Fish are just some of those on the other three stages. AND Papadosio plays an improv set as one of the late-night shows.

SATURDAY

Papadosio and STS9 on the main stage and Tipper at sunrise. What else do you need to know, really? Rising Appalachia and Aqueous, perhaps. Emancipator, Cofresi, Kung Fu, and Manic Focus. Another round of Sunsquabi and TAUK. And at least a dozen more.

SUNDAY

And how about this extra day of music? Papadosio will shut it down with an acoustic set. Consider the Source goes acoustic as well. You’ll get a big set from Wookiefoot, and there is much more, including Jahman Brahman, Afterfunk, Cycles, Peridoni, and Dizgo.

The dictionary says that resonance is “the quality in a sound of being deep, full, and reverberating.” Sounds about right, don’t you think?
